Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! If you are HERE, then Welcome...if you are not HERE...

THEN WHERE ARE YOU?????

Hello, everyone! Welcome to Redeemed by D.S.ign!

"Something New From Something Old! That is my motto!"

My name is Patricia Davis-Striegler, hence D.S.! I also dwell in the awesome land of Dripping Springs, TX, hence, another DS!

Well, I know this is going to sound a little corny, but...here goes!
I have been blessed with a vision…(it's true) I can see things that have been tossed, trashed, thought useless by many, transformed into something beautiful, useful, unique, one-of-a-kind treasures! (I can see the end product in my mind's eye!!Wow!!)
I pray these born-again items will bring a touch of the Redeemed to your life!

I love working with old, rusted discarded tin and aluminum, old wood fencing and barn wood, old rusted barbed wire, old vintage jewelry and beads, old plates, etc., just about anything that has been labeled “useless“, “no good“, “junk“ or “trash”!

I am also 'into' mixed-media (acrylics) interpretations of Scripture in folk art, repose, and mosaics, and clay. Also, acrylics painted on different and unusual surfaces and altered anything (books, journals, etc).

I will be adding more and more items as I am beginning a new artistic venture at Etsy.com! A great place to find one-of-a-kind handmade items! Please come by and check out my shop and please feel free to purchase anything you see! LOL!.

My shop is located at redeemedbydsign.etsy.com

Please come back often and check out my site for new items and information.

And remember, “Nothing is “just junk” in the hands of a creator.”
"Only the heart knows how to find what is precious.”

JNK Friday & Info About Buda Store

THE 1898 STORE

Good Afternoon, Everybody!
Welcome to JNK Friday!

Friday is the day we go shopping for junk, rust, anything to use in our artistic endeavors, or just something that catches our eyes or hearts! I love Rust! I think I have said that before! LOL! Well, last Friday I wrote about a shop in Buda...couldn't remember the actual name, but the Lady that owns it calls it an "Antique Museum"! And, WOW! is it! They have stuff from local (and maybe not all local) businesses from who knows how far back! I went back this past Saturday and took some pictures: The name of the shop is called 1898! that should give you a hint!

Here are some of the pics I took!

Right inside the door-look up at the wash-tubs!
Looks like a double tub! That would make it easier to wash & rinse!

Ok, here are some of the things I was talking about last week that you assemblagers might be intereseted in!

Lots of old pictures, post cards,
very old journals, business books, etc...even old scrapbooks!

Boxes of papers and old books!

And just for fun- lots of signs!

Well, I'm gone for the day! Gotta get my "JNK" ON!
And then I have a birthday party to go to!
Been working on some new things to put into my shop today, several garden garlands made of tin cans, some will be for your covered porch, meaning "out of the weather" and some will be for outdoors in the garden or flower bed areas, fences & gates! Whatever you want to use them for! I hope you like them! Hope to post by Monday!

God Bless!
Going JNK'ing!

Getting My Rust!!!

Well, Good Afternoon, Everyone!
Welcome to
JNK FRIDAY- Getting Our Junk On!

Last night on Facebook, I was saying I needed to get some Rust! Yes, I do mean Rust! I love working with rusty, old stuff! I really do! Last Saturday I was in Buda with a friend and went into this really cool Antique Store on the corner of 967 and Main. I can't remember the name of it, but the owner calls it an Antique 'Museum'! I really could be one! It is really fabulous. I am going to be there again tomorrow, so I will get more info and post more about what I found in there!

What I was looking for that day was some rusty old keys. She had three and wanted $3.50 each! I didn't want to spend quite that much for them, so I passed. Decided to do all of my shoppong for supplies at ETSY! Save on gas, etc., since I have to leave Drippin' to get to any antique or junk stores! A little shipping, but if the price is right...hey, I don't have to get out in this Texas heat! And I just love looking at new shops at ETSY!

And I found some wonderful "RUSTY" shops!
The first one I found some keys, but she has already sold them, so I am going to have to keep looking:

www.VintageMarketPlace.etsy.com

She also has a Blog:

The second one was her favorite and that is how I found it was:

Go and check them out! And have fun RUSTING!!!

THE SURVIVAL INSTINCT

A Lifestyle of Learning!
I am in a perpetual state of learning right now…I am like a dry sponge soaking up all the information I can find. I don’t profess to have arrived, but I am seeking and searching and learning… Life is fragile right now… The economy could get better or it could get worse. Some say let’s be prepared for the worst… I say, “Let’s prepare so that no matter what happens it will be better…life will be better, more fulfilling, enriched, and just plain fun…!" Enjoy the feel of dirt in your hands, the taste of fresh vegetables you grew on your own little spot of earth. Take hold of and cherish the moments of time spent learning how to bake and how to use herbs and any handcrafted items that are useful in everyday living or earning a living!! Share the knowledge you have gleaned with your daughters and sons! Learn…Learn…Learn…Teach…Teach…Teach… Learn to be truly self-sufficient ( or at least to some degree)… It just really feels good to know that if all else fails, you can take care of you and your family… Just that knowledge, alone, is “happiness immeasurable!” I will be posting information below and updating video tutorials as often as I can! All information will have the authors and links to their web pages for more information on each subject discussed!

GREEN BUILDING DESIGN: "BUILDING WITH AWARENESS" by Ted Owens: http://www.buildingwithawareness.com/Movies2.html I found a great site with great information and a DVD on Straw Bale Construction, etc!
Reviews:

Jerry Hutton alternative energies expert Director of the Fuel Cells and Alternative Fuels Training Center at Hocking College "Ted Owens, in his "Building with Awareness" DVD, has taken the process of "Green Building Design" to the next level in both the construction and operations of the home. I highly recommend these construction techniques for anyone interested in implementing truly sustainable designs."

And another:

"I spent last weekend watching the Building with Awareness DVD. As soon as I was finished. I watched it again! This extremely informative and beautiful video, as far as I know, is the first of its kind. At least, the first green building video I have been able to find with the building process laid out step by step in a simple and very visual format. I'm ecstatic to have found Syncronos Design!" —C. So, check out the site and let us know what you think! More Sustainable Info to come! I am playing with the idea of posting all of my Sustainable and Survival Instinct Articles on a new blog just for Green&Sustainable Living...don't know yet...if I could archive them here on different pages, that would be great. If anyone know how let me know. I know, there are no comments here. Just e-mail me at: redeemedbydsign_blog@yahoo.com
See ya later!
