Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! If you are HERE, then Welcome...if you are not HERE...

THEN WHERE ARE YOU?????

Hello, everyone! Welcome to Redeemed by D.S.ign!

"Something New From Something Old! That is my motto!"

My name is Patricia Davis-Striegler, hence D.S.! I also dwell in the awesome land of Dripping Springs, TX, hence, another DS!

Well, I know this is going to sound a little corny, but...here goes!
I have been blessed with a vision…(it's true) I can see things that have been tossed, trashed, thought useless by many, transformed into something beautiful, useful, unique, one-of-a-kind treasures! (I can see the end product in my mind's eye!!Wow!!)
I pray these born-again items will bring a touch of the Redeemed to your life!

I love working with old, rusted discarded tin and aluminum, old wood fencing and barn wood, old rusted barbed wire, old vintage jewelry and beads, old plates, etc., just about anything that has been labeled “useless“, “no good“, “junk“ or “trash”!

I am also 'into' mixed-media (acrylics) interpretations of Scripture in folk art, repose, and mosaics, and clay. Also, acrylics painted on different and unusual surfaces and altered anything (books, journals, etc).

I will be adding more and more items as I am beginning a new artistic venture at Etsy.com! A great place to find one-of-a-kind handmade items! Please come by and check out my shop and please feel free to purchase anything you see! LOL!.

My shop is located at redeemedbydsign.etsy.com

Please come back often and check out my site for new items and information.

And remember, “Nothing is “just junk” in the hands of a creator.”
"Only the heart knows how to find what is precious.”
---Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Well, I finally got it done! I opened my new shop at Etsy! THE JUNK-JUNKIES' JUNK SHOP! I have been working on it for several days. I just love it. It has been a dream of mine for a long time to have a real shop like this. Where artists, and crafters can come and find what they need to complete a project!

Go and check it out!

Well I guess I am going to have to go, but I am going on over to Ruebee for just a minute. I have to work on my SS class and some other things, too.

See you later, alligator!

May Posts! An Exciting Month!

OK! Here goes! Pt3 of May!
Well, last week-end, the ladies of our Church got in our van and went to H.O.M.E. Church in Johnson City (I guess you could call it our father church, we are a daughter work of theirs at this time). We went to a beautiful luncheon and tea there! We had a wonderful speaker, LaJoyce Martin! Have any of you read any of her books? She is a wonderful speaker and writer! She is from around here, but is now in Oklahoma. Wow, we had a great time! That morning we did our Sunday School Visitation (visited all of our kids) and before that we did our Pastor's Enrollment Program. We are making that an annual May program. It is a wonderful program the Lord put on my Pastor's heart a few years ago in Louisiana! It works great. It is a blessing to the community as you provide a service to them for funerals, weddings, prayer, bible studies if wanted. They receive a newsletter and all is free. They are not actual members but are prayed for and loved without any conditions! It is a great outreach to the community. So many do not have a church or anyone to pray for them!
Oh, and we even got a garage sale in somewhere in this mix! It was a full day and then I went home and studied for my Sunday School Class! Wow!
I think that is all I will post about right now!
Oh, of course we have been doing our Jericho Drive!!! Praise the Lord!! We are starting to see the results!! I will post more on this later!
God Bless,
Trish

Pics:(not posted in any specific order, wanted to change the order but wasn't quite sure where pics ended in html?)
#1-My Boys and grandkids #2-My Senior Pastor #3-My husband Vernon and me #4-My Sunday School Class!

OK! Here goes! Part 2 of May!
Well, to begin with May started with a bang! My nephew and his wife renewed their vows on their 10th anniversary and they did it big! I was involved with some of the decorating and had to be there early. I helped arrange the reception hall and decorate the tables and decorate the wedding cake, and and and! A lot of work but it was beautiful!

Oh, of course! MOTHER'S DAY! I had my children over to my house, but they fixed the meal! It was grand! I got a lot of love that day! (and gifts from them! WOW) My husband and I are Sunday School teachers, so we had to be there for the kids. They had a great SS, and learned how to Honor there Mothers as exampled in the bible! Then, we had a little gift giving to our Pastor's wives, ok, no, not 2 wives, 2 Pastors and 2 wives! LOL, actually, they are Father and son and both former missionaries, just off the mission fields about a year and a half ago! They are all wonderful and actually old friends! We are all here starting a Home Missions Church! Rev. Jerry Miller is off the Mission Field of Mexico, and before that Guyana, South America, he was the Regional Evangelist of Central Mexico, his son, Rev. Loren Miller is off the Mission field of Antigua (Caribbean Islands). They are wonderful Pastors! They have experienced some awesome things on the missions fields! I will have to tell some of their stories sometimes! Anyway, a little off the subject, Mother's Day, my husband and I had gotten them both corsages and beautiful cards and something else, I can't even remember no, that's why it doesn't pay me to wait this long to post! LOL!
It was a great day with my kids! Great meal, and great fun! I really hope all of you had just as great a day as I did!
God Bless,
Trish

Hello, all of you beautiful people!
May has been a little bit of a crazy month for me! I am just now seeming to get over here! I've been trying to re-organize my workshop and I'm still not through! I get side-tracked all the time, but with things that are priorities and wonderful, so I am not complaining! The last 2 weeks have been busy. My church has begun what is called a Jericho Drive and we have been doing this every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:00am to usually about 11:00am. This is a prayer drive, sort of like a prayer walk but in a car, around our city. This is likened to the story in the Bible about the walls of Jericho coming down. After going around the city once a day for 6 days and praying for all of the city and for the strongholds of satan to come down (just like the walls of Jericho), we will go around the 7th day 7 times and the strongholds WILL COME DOWN! Amen! Revival WILL TAKE PLACE! There have already been results in other churches! Praise the Lord!
I am going to take each subject this month and put it into a different blog! I have a lot to talk about this month! (So as not to make one blog so long and hard to read!)
God Bless,
Trish

My Goodness! It's Been A Month!

Well, I can't believe it has been a month since I
posted anything???? But it has! I was so busy trying to get something finished with my new materials that I didn't even have time to think. Then when I did finish them, I couldn't get them posted! My camera would not take good pictures of the smaller items I made. they just came out blurry, and you couldn't read what was on them. So, I missed the Easter Sale I was having on Etsy. I didn't end up selling anything anyway??? I went

to Llano to see my sister, Debbie Cox, the day after Easter. Took all of my little crosses, etc. and scanned them into her computer. (Tried to scan them into mine, but my scanner decided to stop working right when I needed it??) the pictures came out pretty good and you can read the writing that is printed on them! You can even see the highlights and brush strokes, so I am pleased. I am sure there are some great photographers out there that would say, oooohhh not so good, but if that is all you can do that is all you can do! Check them out in my Flickr prom on right. I am going to post them at Etsy today and tomorrow and re-post all of my items I have for sale. I hope I can do better now. I am beginning a new line of products next week and will post the pictures of my new materials as soon as I get the pics of them! Found some great stuff in Llano! Going to go back and get some great old doors, and lots of other things as soon as I can!

See Ya!

Well, Friends,
Today I am starting on a new series for Easter. It will not be using just one material for these new items. I am adding a new material to my current list, recycled paper of all kinds. Bear with me as I work on these new items. I will post pictures of my progress as I work on them and finish them. See you tomorrow! God bless!

New Found Treasures

Howdy, Friends!
I just wanted to stop by today and show you some of my newest found treasures! This is just a partial display of what I have. My husband, Vernon, has been remodeling a home for some friends and they replaced these old wood windows with new ones---ugh---I like the old stuff, don't you?---so he brought these on home to me, about 6 of them! And maybe more.... The posts we got from our Free Craigslisting, a little like dumpster diving but a lot easier! Actually, they were a really big banister rail for a porch/ and I took it apart for the posts! I've got a lot of plans for all of these! I will be posting my projects as I begin working on them. I will post my progress as often as possible!

Howdyyy!!!!

Welcome and a Great Big Howdyyy! From the Texas Hill Country!
O.K. I admit it! I’m a junkyard junkie, dumpster diving grandma, passionately recycling unwanted materials into one-of-a- kind creations. I take discarded items found anywhere, and everywhere, even the side of the road, and rework them into works of art. I’m a little Folk-Artish, a little dreamy, a little whimsical (sometimes), a little odd, and over-the-top (sometimes), and very serious about other things, but I love what I do!

As I said above , I live in Texas, Dripping springs, to be exact, just outside of Austin!
I have 2 grown sons and 2 grandchildren, 2 wonderful, little dogs, who think they are human, and oh, yes, a wonderful husband!

I just love taking something that is broken, old, rusty, forgotten...and transforming it into something new and useful again, saving it from its destiny at the junkyard.

Actually, one of my dreams, is to have a Junk-Junkie’s Junk Shop ™. A place where artists, or aspiring artists, hobbyists, or shabby chicers and assemblage and altered anything enthusiasts can come to find the materials they need for a project. I pray this will come to fruition some day soon!

THE SURVIVAL INSTINCT

A Lifestyle of Learning!
I am in a perpetual state of learning right now…I am like a dry sponge soaking up all the information I can find. I don’t profess to have arrived, but I am seeking and searching and learning… Life is fragile right now… The economy could get better or it could get worse. Some say let’s be prepared for the worst… I say, “Let’s prepare so that no matter what happens it will be better…life will be better, more fulfilling, enriched, and just plain fun…!" Enjoy the feel of dirt in your hands, the taste of fresh vegetables you grew on your own little spot of earth. Take hold of and cherish the moments of time spent learning how to bake and how to use herbs and any handcrafted items that are useful in everyday living or earning a living!! Share the knowledge you have gleaned with your daughters and sons! Learn…Learn…Learn…Teach…Teach…Teach… Learn to be truly self-sufficient ( or at least to some degree)… It just really feels good to know that if all else fails, you can take care of you and your family… Just that knowledge, alone, is “happiness immeasurable!” I will be posting information below and updating video tutorials as often as I can! All information will have the authors and links to their web pages for more information on each subject discussed!

I highly recommend these construction techniques for anyone interested in implementing truly sustainable designs."

And another:

"I spent last weekend watching the Building with Awareness DVD. As soon as I was finished. I watched it again! This extremely informative and beautiful video, as far as I know, is the first of its kind. At least, the first green building video I have been able to find with the building process laid out step by step in a simple and very visual format. I'm ecstatic to have found Syncronos Design!" —C.
