Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! If you are HERE, then Welcome...if you are not HERE...

THEN WHERE ARE YOU?????

Hello, everyone! Welcome to Redeemed by D.S.ign!

"Something New From Something Old! That is my motto!"

My name is Patricia Davis-Striegler, hence D.S.! I also dwell in the awesome land of Dripping Springs, TX, hence, another DS!

Well, I know this is going to sound a little corny, but...here goes!
I have been blessed with a vision…(it's true) I can see things that have been tossed, trashed, thought useless by many, transformed into something beautiful, useful, unique, one-of-a-kind treasures! (I can see the end product in my mind's eye!!Wow!!)
I pray these born-again items will bring a touch of the Redeemed to your life!

I love working with old, rusted discarded tin and aluminum, old wood fencing and barn wood, old rusted barbed wire, old vintage jewelry and beads, old plates, etc., just about anything that has been labeled “useless“, “no good“, “junk“ or “trash”!

I am also 'into' mixed-media (acrylics) interpretations of Scripture in folk art, repose, and mosaics, and clay. Also, acrylics painted on different and unusual surfaces and altered anything (books, journals, etc).

I will be adding more and more items as I am beginning a new artistic venture at Etsy.com! A great place to find one-of-a-kind handmade items! Please come by and check out my shop and please feel free to purchase anything you see! LOL!.

My shop is located at redeemedbydsign.etsy.com

Please come back often and check out my site for new items and information.

And remember, “Nothing is “just junk” in the hands of a creator.”
"Only the heart knows how to find what is precious.”

"The Stars At Night Are BIG and BRIGHT, Deep in the Heart of Texas!" (EtsyAustin, SXSW, The ExTerminators)

Encourage yourself today in the Lord and know that through God Almighty you can be made into a masterpiece even if you do not believe it's possible. God is in the restoration business and He is able to take the brokenness that we sometimes feel and turn it into a glorious work of art.

"But now, O Lord, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand" Isa. 64:8

Oh, my goodness! It's so bright tonight! The stars are all shining here in Austin! The brightest star out tonight is The Etsy Austin Team! at SXSW!

The Etsy Austin Team is sooo razzamatazz! X 10...(definition: fantastical, awesometastical X 100, fabulous, sensational!) (Mariah's Dictionary).

Last week-end and this week-end, SoCo has and is being razzamatazzed! by the Etsy Austin Team! Their Booth, in front of Hill Country Weavers is drawing lots of Austin attention! The Handmade theme is what is happening here!
There are 23 Etsy Artisans showing at this booth! The eclecticness of the wares should bring a mix of just about every type of shopper to this booth! From soap made from goat's milk to a herd of stuffed animals, jewelry of all kinds, beautiful silk scarves and little tutus for the young ones! So much more to be found here! Check it out! Go down to South Congress to Hill Country Weavers!! You will see a big banner that says, ETSY AUSTIN! and some really wonderful crafters and artists.
Oh, by the way, there is also a demo on spinning wool going on tonight!! How cool is that!
Razzamatazzical!!!!

Another star that is shining bright tonight is my son, Kevin Striegler! He is an extra in the new indie film, The ExTerminators, which opened last night at The Paramount Theater! You may have seen Kevin in a commercial for ABC Pest and Lawn w/ his boss and owner Mr. Jenkins. Kevin is a supervisor at ABC. ABC was used in the movie as the company the three women worked at and the cover for their actual business, exterminating husbands! Well, I hope they didn't cut his parts!

AUSTIN is the REAL star of EXTERMINATORS

I attended the premiere of Exterminators last night at the Paramount Theater.

The film stars Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge and austin's own Amber Heard, among others.

IMDB's description of the film is this: Three women who meet in an anger-management class decide to form a traditional business with very untraditional methods.

Basically, after an accidental "extermination," the gals decide help other ladies "exterminate" bad men from their lives.

The accidental extermination involves an abusive hubby played by local musician Charlie Robison(whose song "Barlight" is used in the film). I didn't know he was an actor. He was decent.

I was actually impressed with most of the acting in the film. And, I gotta be honest with you, I thought this movie was going to suck. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I found my self laughing out loud a few times.

Favorite line? As Jennifer and Amber's characters walk into the Herb Bar(located on Mary just off of Congress) a woman exits and Jennifer says, "I think she douched with patchouli."

I was also pleasantly surprised by how much of Austin is featured in the film. The ladies work at ABC Pest and Lawn. They hang at Nastys(which in the movie is located off the alley where Lucky Lounge and Fado have a back entrance). Halcyon on 4th is prominently featured in one scene. Shiner beer signs are everywhere. The gals sip on Fireman's 4 and Lone Star. Gotta love that. Heather and Matthew Settle's characters dine at Boticelli's on South Congress and in one scene, the Continental Club's sign is clearly visible. OH, and the movie gets rolling with a scene shot at Scarborough's(which I believe I blogged about last year while they were shooting said scene) and concludes with a scene shot at the Texan Motel on Burnett.

So, anyway, I can't call this flick a MUST SEE at the theater. But it's definitely worth a rental.

THE SURVIVAL INSTINCT

A Lifestyle of Learning!
I am in a perpetual state of learning right now…I am like a dry sponge soaking up all the information I can find. I don’t profess to have arrived, but I am seeking and searching and learning… Life is fragile right now… The economy could get better or it could get worse. Some say let’s be prepared for the worst… I say, “Let’s prepare so that no matter what happens it will be better…life will be better, more fulfilling, enriched, and just plain fun…!" Enjoy the feel of dirt in your hands, the taste of fresh vegetables you grew on your own little spot of earth. Take hold of and cherish the moments of time spent learning how to bake and how to use herbs and any handcrafted items that are useful in everyday living or earning a living!! Share the knowledge you have gleaned with your daughters and sons! Learn…Learn…Learn…Teach…Teach…Teach… Learn to be truly self-sufficient ( or at least to some degree)… It just really feels good to know that if all else fails, you can take care of you and your family… Just that knowledge, alone, is “happiness immeasurable!” I will be posting information below and updating video tutorials as often as I can! All information will have the authors and links to their web pages for more information on each subject discussed!

Jerry Hutton alternative energies expert Director of the Fuel Cells and Alternative Fuels Training Center at Hocking College "Ted Owens, in his "Building with Awareness" DVD, has taken the process of "Green Building Design" to the next level in both the construction and operations of the home. I highly recommend these construction techniques for anyone interested in implementing truly sustainable designs."

And another:

"I spent last weekend watching the Building with Awareness DVD. As soon as I was finished. I watched it again! This extremely informative and beautiful video, as far as I know, is the first of its kind. At least, the first green building video I have been able to find with the building process laid out step by step in a simple and very visual format. I'm ecstatic to have found Syncronos Design!" —C.
